“He’s absent?”
“Maybe,” Anthony said. “He didn’t say anything, through.”
Jason looked away as he ate some of the ice cream in the red glass.
“That’s not good,” he said. “I was going to tell him to investigate the dead girl in the Chi Apartments…”
Anthony smiled and sat down on his chair.
“Bad luck, boss.”
He sighed and looked away.
“Whatever.”
“Whatever.”
She sighed and poured some Absolut Citron into a shot glass. She smiled and sat up.
“He’ll come here soon, you know.”
A man smiled and took the shot glass. He drank a bit of the alcohol in it and smiled.
“Not as good as the Raspberry.”
She smiled and looked away. He put down the glass with a tipping sound.
“What will you do?”
“Who cares,” he said. “By the way, he will die within a month…”
“Who cares,” he said. “By the way, he will die within a month…”
RIIIING
“Excuse me.”
She took out a phone and looked at it for a while. She then sighed and put it on the sofa.
“What?”
“Nothing…”
“Nothing…”
She poured some more drink into the glass and smiled.
“But looks like our hummingbird is really fast,” she said. “She’s left the game.”
The man stood up and sighed.
“That’s not good, is it?”
He turned back and walked away as the woman lit her pipe.
He turned back and walked away as the woman lit her pipe.
“But I will still try to get everything going as we planned,” she said. “Just sit back and watch…”
“Admiralty Station. Please mind the platform gap.”
William stood up and took his black travel bag. He looked around to make sure nobody was following him, then he walked to the station gate.
RIING
He took out his phone as he walked and noticed a few words on the screen.
“Absent today?”
He sighed and stopped at his place, then he typed a reply with a hand.
He sighed and stopped at his place, then he typed a reply with a hand.
“Something I must do. Don’t worry.”
He put the phone into his breast pocket and started to run to the gate. He put his card on the scanner and walked past the gate. He ran out of the building and looked around.
“Taxi!”
He gave out his hand and waved to a blue car which slowed down a few metres from him. It eventually stopped in front of him, then he opened the door and got into it.
“Going somewhere?”
“To the Henessy Road, please,” he said. The driver nodded and smiled.
“35 dollars.”
“Thank you,” Williams aid as he put two twenty-dollar bills on the dasboard. The driver fished for something in his pocket, then he took out a few coins and counted them.

“One, one five, three, and, five…”
He gave the coins to William with a smile.
“Should I wait for you?”
“No need.”
“No need.”
He got out of the car and walked into a small shop. A woman was standing behind the counter, waiting for a customer.
“Can I help you?”
William looked around the shop and quickly smelled something familiar.
“Sir?”
“No,” he said as he took out something from his pocket. He walked to the woman and smiled.
“Police,” he said. The woman looked at the ID, then she backed off in horror.
“You…”
“Tell me what you know,” he said. “Right now.”
“Wait…” she said. “I… I don’t know anything…”
“William raised an eyebrow, his eyes full with suspect.
“Wait…” she said. “I… I don’t know anything…”

“No?”
“No, I don’t…” she said. “All I know is that a woman came a few days ago…”
“No, I don’t…” she said. “All I know is that a woman came a few days ago…”
William looked at her for a while, then he could feel something crossed his mind. The seat he gave when he was in the MTR, a woman holding a lot of plastic bags…
“I see. I’m looking for someone…”
He took out a small piece of paper from his pocket and put it on the counter.
“Do you happen to know her?”
She took the paper and looked at it for a while, then she slowly nodded.
“P…possibly…”
“Where is she?”
“That…”
The woman put her pipe on the table and smiled.
“There he comes…”
She sat down on her exotic China sofa and opened a black jar. She took a few leaves from the jar and put it inside her pipe.
The door screeched open as she lit the filling of her pipe. Bits of sunlight entered the dark, stuffy room, as a silhouette appeared before the door.
“My…” she said as she put the end of the pipe into her mouth. “Who’s there?”
The silhouette didn’t answer as he got into the room. The footsteps echoed since the room was almost empty – making an eerie atmosphere. She smiled and stood up to greet her guest.
“Do you need something?”
He didn’t answer as he stopped at his place. The woman stood up and turned on the lamp, making the room brighter. She could now see his face clearly – the face of a man with thin eyebrows and black hair. He wa wearing glasses and holding a small knife.
She looked at him from head to toe, then she smiled and sat down again with her legs crossed.
“What do you want…?”
He looked at her for a while, then he smiled and raised and eyebrow.
“I know who you are…” he said. “You are Adeline Hua…”
She looked at him for a while and sighed.
“Also known as Lau.”
She didn’t say anything and stood up.
“Looking for something…?”
He looked at her for a while, something rushed up to his head without his permission. He took out a small knife and hid it on his back. She noticed the movement and chuckled.

“I shouldn’t have asked.”
William didn’t say anything as he smiled.
William didn’t say anything as he smiled.
“Not something I can tell easily.”
She looked at him for a while, then she chuckled again and looked away.
“How naïve…”
He suddenly felt something painful in his leg. He stepped back, but then he smiled and took out his knife. He jumped to her and aimed it to her neck. She just stood there as she turned to him, not doing anything.
“Whatever…”
She caught his hand and dropped him to the floor. He coughed out, then she stepped on his chest and smiled.
“I won’t tell you that easily, I hope you know that,” she said. “So you’d better be prepared…”
He gritted his teeth as she tried to take the knife from his hand. He lenched his fist tighter, but then she stepped on his wrist. He hissed in agony as she took the knife.
“Hm…” she said as she looked at the knife. “A good knife, is it not…”
She smiled and looked at him for a while.
“Tell me something,” she said. “I thought you’re smart enough not to do such a dangerous thing.”
She looked at him and smiled.
“After you’re free from Darren, you should just continue life as a free man. Why do you have to do such a stupid thing…”
She threw the knife down to his shoulder and smirked. He hissed again, trying not to scream.
“Such as wanting revenge? It’s wortless,” she said. “Should you stay away from this, you can continue your life as a free man. You can do everything you want without bound by us…”
She sighed and looked away.
“No, you were bound to us from the very beginning,” she said. “You’re trying to do the impossible. You want to remove the shadows from your life.”
She looked at him, now with some pity in her eyes.
“You can’t run away from your past.”
William gritted his teeth, but then he smiled and looked at her in the eye.
“Helping him is more worthless,” he said. “I think.”
She looked down to him for a while, then she sighed and removed her leg.
“My…” she said as she knelt down. “You’re really a kid.”
He didn’t say anything as she walked away from him. She then turned to him and smiled.
“I see,” she said as she poured some yellow liquid into a shot glass. “Did you tell her to run?”
He tried to look at her, but in vain. She could feel some blood oozed out from his shoulder. She drank some of the liquid and smiled.
“Did you?”
“So what if I did?”
He tried to look at her and finally got to look at her, even only a bit of her. She poured some of the liquid again. William could feel something inside him so relieved.
“She’s a good girl…”
She turned to him and smiled.
“I guess it would be lovely to see you in a bit more pain…”
She turned away and stepped on the knife, causing it to stab even further into his flesh. He gritted his teeth again, before she released her foot. He exhaled loudly in relief, then she left again.
“It would be lovely to see you in even more pain,” she said. “But I’m afraid your father won’t be very happy about that…”
She drank some of the liquor as William grabbed the knife. It has gotten so ddep into his flesh so that he could only hold a small part of it.
“S…shit…”
He gritted his teeth in pain and slowly pulled out the knife without Lau noticing. The knife got out of his shoulder very slowly while he hissed in pain.
“And I really don’t want to get scolded, so I guess you’re quite lucky…”
The knife slowly got out from his flesh, all covered in red liquid. He moved his hand to grab the knife better, then he hissed again as he pulled it out.
“But whatever,” she said. “Because…”
She turned back and saw William was standing in front of her. The knife landed on her left stomach, then William kicked her down to the sofa and touched his bleeding shoulder. Lau looked up to him, satisfied.
“Hm,” she said with a smile. “You may be a kid, but you’ve grown after all.”
“Where is Darren?” William asked as he panted. “You’re going to die anyway, so telling me will be a bit better for you…”
“Yes, of course,” she said. “After all, if I die, I don’t get punished for betraying everyone else…”
She looked up to him with a smile.
“This is certainly better than being killed by thunderbolts…”
Rebecca walked past the street as she held the plastic bags. She looked at them to make sure they didn’t torn because of the weight.
“My, my,” she said. “I really don’t feel like working tomorrow…”
She looked forward and noticed a man walking in front of her. He was holding his shoulder which looked to have bled. She wanted to drop the plastic bags and check on him, but she quickly stopped at her place before she could move.
She knew him. A man with black hair and a rather thin posture.
She bit her lower lip as she watched him walk into an alley. She then walked again after he disappeared into the dark.
“William…?”
