Forgotten

I'm leaving.
There's no point of staying there anymore.
He saw it. He knows now. There's no point of hiding it anymore.
...
It will be over soon, after all. After this I will have to test the machine to see if it works...
Then, it will be over.
Maybe that's the last thing I want to do before I die...
The sky is cloudy tonight. Looks like it will rain soon.
...
I wonder if I can sleep in the factory tonight. I hope everything will go smoothly...
I don't need anybody else to find out.
...
But, Edward, he...
I don't know.
From the first time we met, I can feel something different from him.
He has a very welcome character. The kind of person you want to get close with.
It's like he has a very calming aura.
...
But didn't he say that this world might be just a dream?
Different places, but a lot of the same faces, he said.
...
You wake up from every dream.
And the dream will fade away as time passes.
Then, I must be just a man in his dreams. Just a man to be forgotten.
He said that he might be able to go home.
That means he will forget me soon.
...
No.
I don't want to be forgotten like that.
This is my world. I want to show that I lived.
I want everyone to remember that I lived.
That's why I'm doing this. The last thing I have to do before I die.
He won't feel lonely without me or Noah. He has his own brother. He told me that.
He's here because he saved his brother, he said.
...
I have to face it. I'm pretty much nobody to him.
Just someone to be forgotten as time passes.
He don't understand how I feel.
He never had something like this.
I will die. I can't deny it.
Every dead person has to be forgotten.
...
November the sixth is only a few days from now.
I only need to stay alive until that day ended.
The doctor said my medication can only keep me alive until that day. In the best condition, it will.
But I'm somehow pessimistic about this 'best condition'...
...
As I expected, Edward doesn't understand a thing.
He's not from this world. He shouldn't have said as thing about this world's matters.
More like, he doesn't need to know.
This is my world and it will always be.
I want to do something for it.
Even if it leads to war, even if they're bad people, I don't mind. I don't mind if people remember me as a criminal.
As long as I'm not forgotten, that's enough.
I don't like the idea of dying in vain. I want someone to cry over my death.
I don't care who that person will be.
...
I haven't got much time.
I can feel my lungs became heavier every day. Maybe the medicine can't help me that much...
I have to be quick.
I want to be remembered as Alphonse Heiderich. That's enough.
...
I don't have any idea what he's doing right now.
He can go and play with the girls, and forget about this miserable me.
He must be studying now, about what can bring him back to his world.
And as soon as he goes back to his world, I will be forgotten for sure. I know he's got another 'Alphonse' there.
...
I don't know. Maybe it's time to forget about it.
I will die.
Everyone dies.
It won't make a difference for him if I die before him. I'm sure it won't.
...
I... I don't know.
This isn't exactly the end I wanted for myself.
...
But everything has became like this.
I have to...
Urgh...
It's that feeling again...
I...
...
I have to hurry.
I shouldn't hesitate. There aren't much time left for me to do anything. There aren't many things I can do now.
I have to accept it.
I will die, and be forgotten.
I must hurry and show them I ever lived.
Yes, this isn't the end I wanted...
But I can't do anything about that, can I...
...
I don't want to die yet...
Because...
...
I... I don't know.
I can't do anything. How pathetic.
I don't have much time. My time is running out.
If just I have a bit more time...
...
I have to leave, now...
...
Es tut mir Leid, Edward...
...
I'm really leaving now.

(too much '...'? sorry about that... ^^)

Ed walked into a dark stone room as he looked around. There was only a few torches to light the room and it didn't really help for him. "Where the heck am I..." he whispered as he looked around. "Herr, he's here..." "Yes I know..." Ed kept walking without knowing what's behind. "Walk straight..." he whispered. "Hey there, Edward!" Ed was surprised. He quickly looked back but he saw nobody. "Who?" he asked. Mengele walked out from the darkness. "It's me," he said with a smile. Ed looked at him for a while. "Something wrong?" Mengele asked. Ed sighed in relief. "No, sir," he said. "I'm just a bit surprised with the darkness..." Mengele smiled and walked past Ed. "Come on, Edward, I wanna show you something," he said. Ed was surprised. "What thing?" he asked as he chased Mengele. "You'll see," Mengele said. Mengele walked with Edward following behind him Ed was looking around as they walked. 'Whoa," he said. "This is something..." Mengele stopped walking. 'You haven't seen all," he said. Ed smiled. "Will you show me, doc?" he asked. Mengele nodded. "I think we're only a few more further from the place we're looking for," he said. Ed looked around. "Although I have been in Central for a long time, I've never seen this..." he whispered. Mengele suddenly stopped walking and turned back to Ed. "Here," he said. Ed walked to him and turned to look at his front. "Wha..." "I bet you know why I took you here, don't you?' he asked. Ed kept looking at the scene in front of him. "Wait..." he said. "You didn't tell..."
***
"Wait...." Ed held his head. Many people, maybe about hundreds, were in front of him with their hands and legs tied. They were laying on the floor with their a piece of cloth in their mouths. "You want me to make a stone with these?" he asked. mengele smiled. "What do you think?" he asked. Ed looked at the people in front of him. they were looking at him, pleading for help. A few soldiers were standing behind, watching them with their guns on their hands. "You will do it, right, Ed?" Mengele asked.
Ed sighed. "What do you think?" he asked.
"Don't be kidding," Mengele said. "We have the agreement, right?"
"It goes in Germany," Ed said. "Not here."
Mengele walked away. "But still, it goes the same," he said. "Or there will be some risk to bear, right?"
"I don't care," Ed said. "A no is still a no."
Mengele smirked and stopped walking. He turned back to Ed.
"Well," he said. "It means you'll have to take the risk."
A few men walked out and stopped before Mengele. "Doc..." they called. "It's..."
"I know," Mengele said. "Thanks. You may go."
The men left and Mengele walked to the something they brought. He knelt down and smirked.
"Well, Edward?" he asked. "I'm just asking for one last time, you know?"
"I don't care," Ed said. "It's still a no."
Mengele sighed and walked away as he took out a Walther gun from his pocket.
"I don't expect this from you," he said as he turned to Ed. "I thought you are a gentleman."
"This is beyond the agreement," Ed said. "I think I have a say about that."
Mengele didn't say anything. Ed still couldn't see what the soldiers have brought into the room.
"And the agreement is make a stone and then go with me to Thule," Ed said. "So I'm not making it for a second time."
Mengele sighed. "Well, you know what..." he said. He looked at the citizens who were laying on the ground. He looked back to Ed, and scanned him from head to toe.
"Actually you're right," Mengele said. "So I didn't do my threat."
Ed didn't say anything. Mengele walked forward, then he kicked something. Ed's eyes grew wide.
"But for this girl," he said. "You will, won't you?"
***
"You will, won't you?"
Ed looked at Winry, who was laying on the ground with blood oozing out of her mouth.
"Ed..."
"So that's why you bring the whole SS team with you," Ed said. "Unfortunately, it's still a no."
Mengele sighed and looked away. "See?" he asked. "That's why you're no gentleman."
A man in grey uniform showed up and stopped before Winry.
"No?"
"No."
Mengele shook his head and the soldier smiled. He suddenly kicked her on the chest.
"Win..."
Two men appeared and grabbed Ed's arms.
"No?"
Ed looked at Winry as drops of sweat rolled down his forehead. Mengele sighed as he saw the kid won't move.
"Oh come on Ed..." he said. "You're gonna let her die?"
Mengele squatted before her and touched her cheek. "She's beautiful, don't you think?" he asked. The soldier nodded. She didn't react, seems like she couldn't feel anything more.
"F***..." Ed cursed. "Let me go!"
"No, no..." Mengele said. "Folks, you won't move until he does it, right?"
The two men who were holding Ed smirked. Ed looked at them, his eyes full with hatred.
BAM
Ed was shocked. He quickly turned to the wall, and found Winry laying before it. The wall has some blood marks. Now the citizens started to react, but they can't move.
"F*** German, let her go..."
"She's still got a life to live..."
Mengele sighed and turned back to the citizens. "But, ladies and gentlemen," he said. "It depends on Edward Elric."
Winry panted as she saw the wall in front of her. She could feel something's going to happen.
"Wait!" Ed shouted as the soldier walked to her. "Stop it!"
"Once you do it, it's over," Mengele said. "How do you think?"
Ed could now feel the sweat rolled down to his chin. The man grabbed her hair and lifted her.
"You sure don't shout, do you?" he asked. "Can't you shout? You can speak, can't you?"
Mengele turned back to the citizens. Now they looked furious of because of the torture going on in front of them.
"How is it, Ed?"
Ed looked at Mengele, his eyes sharp as blades.
"Damn you, colonel..."
The soldier unexpectedly bumped her to the wall. She hissed loudly, then she fell to the ground. Ed closed his eyes, trying not to see what's going on.
"How is it? Don't tell me I have to make her shout?"
Ed rebeled, but the soldiers who were holding him were too strong.
"How is it?"
Ed panted. Now he could feel fear across his body.
"No..."
Mengele turned to Winry. She was facing the ground, now a few of her hairs were red.
"Young lady, did you just say something?" he asked. Winry panted and looked up to him.
"I'm not talking to you," Wiry said. "DOn't you dare say anything."
Mengele smirked and walked up to Ed. "Good, I like brave girls," he said. "That's not something you can find in German very easily, right?"
"You..."
The soldier dragged her across the room and dropped her in front of Mengele. "Or you want me to shoot her?" he asked. "Maybe you'd love to see her dead?"
"No..."
Ed's face turned pale as Mengele aimed his gun at her.
"Until three, no answer, I'll shoot her," Mengele said. "One..."
Ed didn't move. "Two..." Mengele counted.
Winry looked up to Ed as she panted. Now some blood flowed from her lips, because she didn't shout, she bit her lip.
"Three."
Mengele took out another gun. "No?" he asked.
"NO," Ed said. "NO..."
Mengele sighed. "Well," he said with a cruel smirk. "I think I haven't got much choice..."

Mustang sighed as he sat down on the floor.
"Why..." Hawkeye sighed. "We only get to settle a HQ underground..." she said.
Armstrong smiled. "But it's better than nothing," he said. "And we have Lieutenant Fuery with us as well..."
Fuery sighed. "But radio signals will have some trouble reaching this place," he said. "Because this place is so isolated and all..."
Armstrong slammed down his fist to the ground. A blue flash appeared for a moment, then it turned dark again.
"Well..." he said as he stood up again, next to his brand-new mini radio tower. "Will this help?"
Fuery's mouth fell open. "Will it really work, Armstrong?" Mustang asked. "I sure hope so, sir," Armstrong said.
"Now, you see..." he said. "Just ask anything you need and we can make it for you."
He put his hands on his waist. "This is the art of alchemy!" he shouted.
Everyone looked at him for a while. Armstrong smiled and bowed down. "Anything else?" he asked.
Mustang sighed. "Well, start by making a phone..." He paused. "And stop shouting. You're drawing attention."
"And what about Edward?" Hawkeye asked. "If he's no longer with us..."
"Don't worry," Mustang said. "I know someone who will help."
•••
Winry looked out of the window from the second storey of her shop as she wore a brown jacket and buttoned it up.
"Man," she said with a sigh. "This is bad."
She turned back to her wooden room and walked to a wooden table. "Seems like there's no getting out of the town..."
RIIIINGGG
She looked back to the corner of the room to find her phone on a small box ringing.
"Who is it?" she asked as she walked to it and picked up the phone.
"Hello? With Winry here," she greeted.
"Ah, Winry," Hawkeye said. "It's me..."
Winry's eyes widened. "Colonel!" she exclaimed. "Are you alright?"
Hawkeye smiled. "I'm alright, but I can't move much," she said. "You're alright, too?"
"Ah, yes," Winry said. "I'm a bit worried about you guys..."
"We're alright, don't worry," Hawkeye said. "However..."
"What are you doing! Give me the phone!"
"General, shut up!
"You're wasting time, colonel!"
Winry stood there as she held the phone. "What! Give me the phone!" Mustang shouted. "I'll talk! I'll talk!" Hawkeye shouted. "What! I will! I will!" Mustang shouted. "Do you know how to talk to a girl about this!" Hawkeye shouted.
CLICK
"Hey! give it back! give it back!" Hawkeye shouted. "AH, damn! Shut up will you!" Mustang shouted.
"Hey, hey..." WInry said with a sigh.
"Sorry, Winry!" Mustang apologized. "I had a little riot with the colonel here..."
"Colonel Hawkeye, please calm down..." Armstrong said. Hawkeye sighed and sat on the cold rock floor.
"But I guess it's settled now," Mustang said as he smiled. Hawkeye looked at him for a while, then she sighed. Winry smiled in relief. "Did you say you want to walk about something, general?" she asked. Mustang rubbed his head. "Actually, I do..." he said. "Then speak it up," she said. Mustang sighed and looked at Armstrong. He nodded and leaned to Mustang. "Sir, talk about it slow," he whispered. Mustang sighed again. "I sure hope for a good reaction," he said. "I'm sure she will give one," Armstrong said.
Mustang took a deep breath. "If you don't mind," he said. "This is about those Germans..."
Winry sighed. "I don't mind, go ahead," she said. Mustang smiled. "I always know you're a good girl," he said. "And however..."
"You want my help?" Winry asked. Mustang sighed. "You're sharp," he said. SHe smiled. "Why, thank you," she said. "And I really hope you can help us," Mustang said. "Why, of course I will!" she said.
"Well, I really am expecting your help..." he said. "Because this is about Fullmetal."
Her eyes grew wide. Mustang quickly read her mind. "Look, Winry, I'm really sorry," Mustang said. "No, I'm alright, general," she said as she felt some tears on her face. "I'm just..."
CLICK
"Hello, WInry?'
There was no answer. "Winry?" Mustang asked again.
There was still no answer.
Mustang's eyes grew wide and he felt cold sweat on his forehead.
"Hello?"
•••
"It went surprising well..."
Ed looked out of the window at the Amestris soldiers marching out of the town. "Right, Edward?' Mengele asked. Edward looked back and nodded. "Yes, doc," he said. Mengele sighed. "Come on, not that face," he said. "You should look a bit more cheerful..."
Ed smiled. "I know, doc. I just feel kinda tired," he said. "I think I'll go take a rest..."
Ed turned and walked away. "See you, doctor," he said.
Ed opened the door as Mengele watched him. "I'll come tomorrow in the morning..."
Mengele smiled. "Don't be late," he said. "Of course I won't," Ed said as he opened the door.
•••
The next day
Ed walked into the room he left the day before. But nobody was there, there was only him.
RIINNGGGG!!!
Ed looked at the phone. It still rang loudly and the whole phone was shaking. Ed walked to it and picked it up.
"The doctor is out for a while," he said. "Please wait for a..."
"hey, Edward," Mengele said. "It's me."
Ed was stunned. "Yes, doc?" he asked. Mengele smiled. "Guess what?' he asked. "I've got something for you."
Ed didn't say anything. "You see the bookshelf on the right?" Mengele asked. Ed looked to the right and nodded. "Yes, sir," Ed said. "Take the book 'elixir' and then walk straight," Mengele said.
"Excuse me?"
Mengele smirked. "Just do it," he said, then he hung up.
ed put down the phone and turned to the bookshelf. "Elixir..." he said as she strolled through the shelf. He looked up and saw a red book.
ELIXIR
Ed sighed. "That one?" he asked. "I can't reach that height..." he grunted. He looked around the room and saw a wooden stool on the corner.
"Now," he said as he walked to it. "Whoever sits on this, I hope he doesn't mind."
He took the stool and put it in front of the bookshelf. "Elixir..." he murmured. "Where is it..."
he took the book and threw it down. He hopped down from the stool and put the book on the table. "Now, what does he mean by walk straight..."
Suddenly Ed heard a screech. he looked back at the shelf and found it moving.
"Hey..." he said. "Don't joke..."
The shelf moved back until it formed a small hole on the wall. Ed walked to it slowly and looked into it.
"It's dark..." he said. "Is this what he meant by walk straight?"
Ed walked slowly to into it. "Just straight, so I'm not going to need any help..." he said.
•••
"I bet he's coming now..."
Mengele looked at his watch with satisfication. "Now let's just wait for the player," he said.

Amestris, 1100 hours
"Sir! Sir!"
Fuery rushed into the room as he held a paper.
"General Mustang, sir..." he said as he panted.
No answer.
"Something wrong, lieutenant Fuery?"
Fuery looked back and saw a blonde woman. "Ah, colonel Hawkeye..." he said with a grin. "What's that paper you're holding?" she asked. "Uh... Some report for the general from Führer Grummond..." he said. Hawkeye took it and started reading. His eyes grew wide and his mouth fell open. "Wait, colonel, it's for the general..." he said in panic as she walked into the wooden room and walked to a chair faced to the window.
"WHAT THE F***ING HELL ARE YOU DOING!"
No answer. Hawkeye took a deep breath and leaned to Mustang's ear. Fuery quickly covered his ears with both hands.
"WAKE UP YOU F***ING GENERAL!"
Mustang opened his eyes and rubbed them. "What's wrong, colonel?" he asked as he yawned. "Field report," Hawkeye answered as she handed the paper. "From the South Section."
Mustang sighed. "I don't wanna read it..." he said as he took the paper. He looked at it for a while and rubbed his chin.
"Hm..." he said. "So Aerugo's invaded?"
"Seems so, sir," Hawkeye said. Mustang read the paper more and sighed. "What's this?" he asked as he pointed a row of texts on the paper. Hawkeye leaned over and read it.
"SOLDIERS IN GREY UNIFORMS AND AN EAGLE MARK"
"I don't know, sir," Hawkeye said as she shook her head. "Aerugo has red uniforms, and Drachma has black ones. Creta has green ones," she said.
"Wait..." Mustang said. "Which called themselves 'Germany'. Seen after the quake a week ago and took over all vital cities in just a week..."
"So we surrendered."
Mustang looked up to her. "Weird, isn't it?" he asked. "Yes, sir," she said. "Who gave this just now?" he asked as he turned his chair and put the paper on the desk. "Fuery, from the Führer," she said. "Führer Grummond?" Mustang asked in surprise.
He took the paper and read it again. "Seems pretty important..." He then spotted a row of words on the bottom.
"THEY ARE HEADING TO SOUTH CITY"
•••
Rush Valley, 1500 hours
Paninya walked to a red brick building as she held a brown box and opened its wooden door.
"Winry!" she shouted. "I bring some goodies from Mr. Dominique..."
She walked into the brick room and looked around. "Oh, ok. Just put it on the table," a voice answered. Paninya smiled and put the box on a wooden table. She opened another door and walked in.
Winry looked at the metal arm with her microscope and she held a screwdriver in her right hand. "Hm..." she said. "Here is this one and this one..."
"What are you doing?"
"Oh?" Winry said. "The macho man's arm needs some reparation."
Paninya smiled. "What kind of goodies do you bring today?" Winry asked as she looked up. "Just a bottle of whisky and some food..." Paninya said. "Whisky, huh..." Winry said as she stretched her muscles. "Good for some nightcap."
Paninya smiled. "However, there's a rumour on the streets," she said. "Oh, some macho soldiers in grey uniforms entering the country?" she asked. "I've heard about that..."
"And that you're leaving for Central," Paninya said. "Is that true?"
Winry sighed. "I have to buy a new piston and visit a friend," she said. "I see," Paninya said as she sat on the floor. "Shall we share the whisky, Winry?"
Winry smiled. "Ok, I won't mind," she said.
•••
Central, 1100 hours
Hawkeye walked behind Mustang through the wooden hallway with its floor covered with red carpet and flags of blue military symbols hanging on the walls. Their steps are fast, steady, and hurried.
"What?!" Mustang grunted. "They're at Dublith already! What are those South people doing?" he asked angrily.
"Sir, sir, calm down," Hawkeye said as she chased her boss and walked next to him. "We've got a lt of casualties there..."
"Yes that's what I'm f***king talking about!" Mustang shouted. "Can't those people give something better?"
Hawkeye looked down as she ket walking and Mustang sighed loudly. "F*** South Section," he whispered. "And why the f***king hell am I told to come to this meeting..."
"Please stop using that word, sir," Hawkeye said. "That's indecent for a general like you."
Mustang stopped and looked at her. She looked at him with a sharp glare. Mustang sighed and walked again. "I'll use bloody, then," he said. "So now, colonel, can you please try to get me out of this f***..."
"Sir..."
"I mean, bloody meeting," Mustang corrected. "How can you forget about that so quickly?" she asked. "I'm old, please understand," he said. "You're a bachelor, how can you call yourself old?" she asked. He sighed. "Ok. I'll give you everything you want if you can get me out of this f***..."
She sighed. "I mean BLOODY!" he shouted. "BLOODY MEETING!" he shouted. "Get me out of it..."
"You need to be social, sir," Hawkeye said. "Besides, I think today they will talking about something more of your subject..."
"More of my subject?" he asked. "Yes, sir. That's what I heard," she said. He rubbed his chin. "Not surely fire, right?" he asked.
Hawkeye stopped walking and faced an oak door. "You'll see," she said as she opened it. Mustang's face turned pale.
"Wait!" he shouted. "Who told you I'm gonna attend this f***king meeting..."
"I told you to."
Mustang looked into the room to the source of the solemn voice.
"Get in, Mustang," Grummond said as he stood up. "How about a game of chess?"
Mustang sighed and got in. "Ok, sir," he said. Grumkond smiled and took his pipe from the table. "Ok, Hawkeye, you may leave. Just me and my dear general," he said. Hawkeye saluted and closed the door.
Mustang walked to the seat as he looked around. The room was still the same—a big window in behind the chair, swords on the walls, and a potrait of Bradley. A big table in front of the chair and a coffee table between two green sofas. There was a set of chess on the table.
"Sit down, Mustang," Grummond said. "How about some tea?" he asked. "No, thanks, sir," Mustang answered.
Grummond sat on one of the sofas and took a piece of rook right in front of the knight.
"Well," he said. "Can I do the first move?"
"Of course, sir," Mustang said. Grummond smiled and put the rook in front of its place before. Mustang took his rook in front of his black knight and put it two boxes in front of its place.
"Taking my moves, aren't you?" Grummond asked as he put a knight on the edge of the board. Mustang moved his bishop to the centre of the board.
"Well, well," Grummond said. "Who will lose today?"
Mustang smiled as Grummond put another rook in front. He took his bishop and knocked of the rook.
"Check."
Grummond smiled. "Not checkmate, right?" he asked as he moved the queen. "That should be alright, then..."
"No, sir."
Grummond looked up at his general. "You told me it's a meeting," he said. Grummond sighed and laid back. "Well, it is," he said. "If that is so..." Mustang said as he took his knight. "Why are we playing chess?"
Grummond smiled. "You make it a check in purpose?" he asked. "I see."
Grummond flicked his king off the board. "I guess you win," he said. Mustang sighee and smiled. "Well, let's just move on," Grummond said as he put down his pipe to the table and blew white circles to the air. He took out a piece of paper from his pocket and put it on a table. Mustang looked at the paper.
"A picture?"
Grummond nodded. "This picture..." he said. "Is taken by a soldier in Dublith."
Mustang took it and started to study it. A few men in grey uniform, a man in brown, and a tank far behind.
"Tell me what's wrong with the picture," Grummond said. Mustang looked at it for a while, then he put it on the table.
"Well, the Germans have tanks..." Mustang said. "No, it's not that..." Grummond said with a sigh. "Look at it closely..."
Mustang took it and looked again. "I don't think there's something wrong?" he asked. Grummond sighed.
"CLOSER!"
Mustang looked again. "Grey uniform, tank, smokes!" he said. "Nothing's wrong, sir..."
Grummond sighed and took out a blue pen from his pocket. He took the photo from Mustang and drew something on it. Mustang watched him as he sighed.
"Sir, nothing's wrong..."
"Something's wrong," Grummond said as he put it on the table. "Get a load of this."
Mustang took the photo again and noticed that Grummond has drawn a red circle on it. He looked closer into that something in the circle.
"No..." he said as his eyes grew wide. "It can't be..."
"Blonde hair, golden eyes, brown jacket," Grummond said. "Don't tell me you've forgotten."

"That will be 50 marks."
Ed took the apple and put a few money on the table. "Thanks, frau," he said.
He walked down the lonely streets of Munich as he bit his apple. There were still a few rotten corpses and rubbles on the street. The street lamps were still standing, with the glass broken.
"Ah..." he said with a sigh. "The inflasion sure is high..."
He suddenly felt something weird in his throat. He quickly spit out the apple. "What's this sour smell?" he asked as he looked at the apple. The apple was showing some brown spots on it.
"Great, it's rotten," he said with a sigh. "So, 50 marks for a rotten apple."
He looked around him, to the corpses laying on the street. They were rather brown, and some has some crows sitting on it. Most of them were red in colour.
Ed held a deep breath as he continued eating. "I'd better eat something before I turn to be like that," he said as he walked faster.
"Yes, that's the one," a soldier said as he pointed at Ed. A man looked at him for a while, and sighed. "You sure?" he asked. "Positive, sir," the soldier said. The man looked at Ed and looked at his man. "How will we do this, then?" he asked. "I don't know, sir," the man asked.
"Brother! Brother!"
Ed looked back and saw Al running to him. He was holding a small red box and his white shirt was dirty.
"Ah..." he said. "How did you manage to live?"
Al showed the box. "Some rice," he said with a grin. "And some vegetables."
Ed rubbed his nose as he closed his eyes. "Must be rotten," he said. "No, last night's leftovers," Al said. "It may not smell good, but I'm sure it's better than you apple, brother," he said with a grin. Ed sighed and smiled. "Let's go. Heiderich's waiting," he said. Al smiled and nodded.
"Yeah," he said. "Let's go."
•••
"Who are you?"
"You'll see."
"What do you want? Let go!"
"You'll see, be patient."

"Hm..."
Ed opened his eyes slowly and blinked a few times. "Ah..." he grunted as he saw darkness around him. "I'm here again... No, I'm still here..."
He sat up and felt some pain on his back. "Ow..." he said as he rubbed his back.
"Hey, guy, woke up already?"
Ed looked up and saw a man looking into the dark room. He sighed and laid his back against the wall. "Yes, I'm awake. What's wrong?" he asked. "We've got a gift for you," the man said.
Ed sat up. "What kind of rotten gifts do you have?" he asked. The man sighed. "What a sharp boy," he said. He then closed the hole. Ed sighed and laid down. He could hear cracks and jingles.
"Well..." the man said as he opened the door. "You'll see."
Ed smiled. "I have no more power for your tortures," he said. "No, it's not that," the man said. "Then what is it?" he asked. "You'll see," the man said as he dragged Ed out of his cell. Ed held the man's hand tight and stood up. "I can still walk," he said. "Don't underestimate."
The man smiled. "Walk on your own, then, strong guy," he said.

Mengele walked around in the small wooden room with only a table and two seats on the centre. His boots clicked loudly with the wooden floor.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Yes," he said as he stopped walking. "Sir, he's here," a man shouted from outside. Mengele smiled and sat on one of the chairs. "Come in," he said. "Just him and me. You guys may leave."
The door flew open and Ed walked into the room as he looked around. Mengele smiled and stood up.
"Guten Morgen (good morning), Herr Elric. Let me introduce myself," he said. Ed looked at him for a while, a man smiling with his eyes didn't.
"The name is Mengele," he said. "Joseph Mengele."
"Oh, yeah. I ever heard of you before. You're famous in the holocaust," Ed said. Mengele sighed and sat down. "Please, sit down," he said.
Ed pulled the only empty chair and sat down. "The man said there's a gift for me," he said. "Why, impatient, aren't you?" Mengele asked with a sigh. "Can we please just make it quick?" Ed asked. Mengele smiled cynically and nodded. "Sure, we will," he said as he put his hands on the table.
"Now..." he said. "I've heard from a few people," he said. "People?" Ed asked. "Yes, right, say, Haushofer," Mengele said. "You remember him, don't you?"
Ed nodded and gulped. "Something wrong?" he asked. Mengele sighed and supported his head with a hand.
"You're not from this world, are you..."
Ed was surprised. "You mean?" he asked. "Karl (Haushofer) mentioned something about a gate," Mengele said. "A circle, and another world just like Germany," he said.
Ed sighed. "So this is what you need the Stone for," he said. Mengele smiled. "Exactly! Sharp, aren't you?" he asked. "But why are you interested?" Ed asked. "To show the world that the Nazis aren't over," Mengele said as he stood up.
"So that's why you brought me here, tortured me for a few days, asking me for a Stone," Ed concluded. "Classic."
"No, that's not it, Edward," Mengele said. He unbuttoned his collar button and took out something. A necklace with red pendant.
"What's that?" Ed asked as Mengele took it off. "What do you think?" Mengele asked as he put it on the table. Ed took it and looked at it closely, before then his eyes turned wide. "Do you know?" Mengele asked. Ed nodded. "This..."
"So don't make me laugh," Mengele said. "We do have the Stone."
Ed slammed the necklace to the table. "If you're telling me to open the door, I'm not going to do it," he said. "Why not?" Mengele asked. "We can rule a whole new world..."
"Just like you said, a country just like Germany," Ed said. "Which means there are people who will suffer if you go there."
"Oh, really?" Mengele asked synically. "If it's just like Germany, that means they're pretty used to wars, right?" he asked. "But you have to pay in order to open it!" Ed shouted. "My dad's enough!"
"Why, relax," Mengele said. "Now that we have the Stone, we've taken care of it..."
"The Stone is made of human lives," Ed said. "Sorry, doctor, I can't help you."
Ed stood up and turned back. Mengele watched him leave and smiled.
"Recalling memories, aren't we?"
Ed looked back and found Mengele smiling. "Pardon me?" he asked. Mengele stood up and walked to Ed. "Don't make me laugh," he said. "A blonde girl with blue eyes and long hair..."
Ed was surprised. "A kind, honest girl," Mengele continued with a smile.
"Come on, doctor," Ed said. "You can find a lot of girls like that in Germany."
Mengele smiled. "A house by the green hill, and all..." he said. "Don't lie. I'm sure you want to come back," he said with a smile.
Ed frowned. "Who told you?" he asked. "Karl, of course," Mengele answered with a big smile. "Don't try to fool me. All information about you comes from Thule..." he struck Ed's shoulder. "Which comes from the gypsy, am I wrong?"
"Where is she?" Ed asked. "Where do you think?" Mengele asked. "In the crematorium, of course."
Ed frowned more. "What do you want?" he asked. "Just open the door," Mengele said. "Don't try to make me do something I won't do," Ed said. "Because..."
"You will do it, Edward Elric," Mengele said. "Dp it, according to the plan..." "What if I said no?" Ed cut.
Mengele sighed and walked back. "Why, stubborn, aren't you?" he asked as he walked to the table and took his necklace.
"And however," Ed said. "Tell me, how do you get a Stone?"
"Oh, this?" Mengele asked. "Of course I can, with a bit help from my Thule friends and the Jews..."
Ed sighed. "I'm still waiting for your answer, Herr Elric," Mengele said with a smile.
"Still a no," Ed said as he opened the door. "See you, doctor."
Mengele smiled cynically. "Have you forgotten, Edward?" he asked. "We're not giving you a choice."
